Kentucky Society of Plastic Surgeons — Leading the Way to the Future

This year, Dr. Chariker is serving as President of the Kentucky Society of Plastic Surgeons, a role he says plays a critical part in shaping the future of the profession in Kentucky.

He helps set up professional education programs for the physicians, recruits speakers from around the nation, organizes banquets and dinners, and perhaps most important, administrates a “Resident Research Competition” for young plastic surgery residents in the state.

Though it’s often a big responsibility, he says he’s happy to be in a leadership role among so many other fine physicians. “It takes a lot of study and networking to stay at the top of your specialty. I want to make sure every plastic surgeon in the state has access to the tools they need to stay current. And it really is fun working as a judge in the resident research competition. We need to work hard to nurture the talent and new ideas coming up from our medical students,” he added.
