The Republic Bank We CARE Awards — An Unexpected Honor

“We applied to the Republic Bank We CARE Awards knowing we were up against large corporations. So when they called our name, we just couldn’t believe it. The whole staff was just ecstatic,” said Karen Mosgrove, practice manager for Dr. Chariker.

Turns out, there was good reason for their surprise. The Republic Bank We CARE Awards are generally given to very large healthcare providers such as hospitals and clinics that have made community service a part of their company culture. The group was named one of the five finalists for 2010. But because Dr. Chariker’s commitment to service is on the community, state and global level, a special award was started this year to honor him: “The Community Champion Award.” Dr. Chariker was the first to receive the award, but it is expected to become a tradition and continue with other physicians in years to come.
